Deacon David Hawthorne

Dn. David Hawthorne

Deacon David is a native Texan, born in Corpus Christi. He became serious about the Christian faith during high school and pursued his studies at Bible college, graduating with a degree in Theology. After college, Dn. David lived in Japan for five years, where he discovered and embraced the Orthodox Christian faith, being received into the Church during his time there.

He was tonsured a Reader in 1997 by Archbishop Dmitri of Dallas and ordained to the Holy Diaconate by Archbishop Peter of Chicago & Mid-America on July 17, 2022. As of January 2025, Dn. David serves at St. Sava Orthodox Church in Allen, Texas.

Outside of his ministry, Dn. David is a self-employed landscape designer with over 20 years of experience. He lives in Plano with his wife Natalia and their two dogs. He enjoys reading about many different subjects, teaching Bible studies, and serving in the Church.
